KNITTING CARDS AS AN ART I love reading novels, writing stories, swimming and most of all knitting beautiful cards during my free time.I really love my school and classmates. During the Nairobi International Trade Fair,2012,I saw various articles that people from countries of Africa and the world had come to show case. I am Salma Rashid,12years old.I am in Grade 7 at The Dream Education Centre Nairobi. |
I searched in every means possible including the internet on different kinds of Art and Craft that people practise.I finally got interested in one.The method and steps were long and required a bit of a number of steps. In addition materials would be expensive to acquire since it was knitting patterns in fabric.
Quickly an idea ran my mind.If I made patterns, flowers and nice shapes on some manilla paper I could sell them as birthday cards, marriage cards or even christmas cards. That's how I started my Art of knitting lovely cards.I have made many of them selling them to my friends in school, teachers, relatives and even my neighbors. The latest one I sold to my aunt during their second wedding anniversary. I got interested and curious to know how they had done it so magically.Works of Art that was so amazing.
I draw pictures, make holes and carefully knit. With time I have mastered and I am perfect in it.Yet I do not have a proffesion in it.I still hope that maybe I will. Faith and interest is all we need to manage to do anything. As the English man says Practice makes perfect I have learnt to do it so skillfully that my buyers do not bargain when I set the price. | My word for the children outside there is don't hide you interest,it might be your talent.Perhaps it has lots of good things coming with it. |
In future I would like to teach the youth on how to be independent by using their talents and abilities.God has a purpose for every child.
